10/06/2024Montreal, June 6, 2024 – The Artificial Intelligence and Tourism Working Group is proud to announce the official creation of its Expert Committee. This committee was set up to support the Task Force’s initiatives by bringing in specialized expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and data to strengthen innovation and competitiveness in the Quebec tourism industry.
The Expert Committee will play a key role in analyzing the challenges and opportunities presented by the introduction of AI in the tourism, culture and entertainment sector. In alignment with the Task Force’s values, the committee will place particular emphasis on ethics, innovation, collaboration and the common good, in line with the principles of the Montreal Declaration for the Responsible Development of AI.
“The creation of this committee is an important step for our industry and for the future of the AI and Tourism Working Group.” said Paul Arseneault, professor at UQAM and co-chair of the Expert Committee, and Philippe Caron, Director of Business Intelligence and Innovation at Destination Québec Cité and co-chair of the Expert Committee.. “Thanks to the involvement of these experts in AI, tourism and data, we will be able to properly guide the work of the Working Group and thus better identify the specific challenges facing the tourism industry.”

Objectives of the Expert Committee :
- Challenges and Opportunities Analysis: Identify the specific challenges facing the tourism industry and propose innovative AI-based solutions.
- Education and awareness: Better inform tourism industry players about AI advances and their potential impact in the short and long term.
- AI integration: Ensure the judicious and relevant integration of AI tools into the business activities of tourism stakeholders.
- Promoting Innovation: Encouraging the creation of new tourism businesses using AI in their models or raison d’être.
- Collaboration with Innovative Companies: Encourage innovative AI companies to apply their expertise to the tourism sector.

The Groupe de Travail is a multiplying agent actively involved in making Quebec’s tourism industry a fertile ecosystem for business innovation related to Artificial Intelligence.
